Fishing off Coos Bay/Charleston

There are many fishing and crabbing Geoff with a Southern Oregon troll caught Pacific Ocean Chinook Salmon. This fish fell for a purple label herring trolled on a downrigger.opportunities in the Northeast Pacific Ocean off of Coos Bay/Charleston Oregon.  Species targeted include Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Lingcod, many different Rockfish species, Pacific Halibut, Blackcod/Sablefish, and Albacore Tuna.  Dungeness Crab is a favorite target for the avid sportsman and it is hard to beat a fresh ocean-sized Dungeness Crab from the Pacific for dinner.

Safety Warning

The Coos Bay bar is one of the safest bar crossings on the coast and in particular Southern Oregon.  Still, watch the weather and tides as the bar can become dangerous in heavy ebb currents and a blustery 15 - 20 knot winds.  This being said, there is some fantastic fishing in the Pacific Ocean, not to mention some of the best tasting sushi on the planet.
